What to see in florence in one day

From thereyou can walk to the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the famous “Duomo” of Florence, crowned with the dome by Brunelleschi,

with its bell tower by Giottoand the Baptistery right in front of the Cathedralwith its superb mosaics and the Golden Gates of Paradise by Ghiberti.

One day in Florence between art and history

Florence is the ideal city for art lovers who are simply spoilt for choice here. During a one-day visit to Florence you can visit the famous Uffizi Gallery (on-line booking highly recommended), then proceed toward the Academy, where you can admire the perfection of the extremely famous David by Michelangelo.

Before reaching the recently opened Museum of the Opera of Florence Duomo, you can take a break and enjoy the mature grounds of BoboliPark, near Pitti Palace, once the residence of the Medicifamily.

Florence shopping streets

Before returning to Antico Borgo San Lorenzo, let yourself be enthralled by the shop windows of the best fashion brands, strolling along the most famous streets of the city centre such as Via Tornabuoni, Via della Vigna Nuova or Via de’ Calzaiuoli. We can also recommend you to visit Via Maggio, the heart of Florentine craftsmanship. Lovers of leather goods will feel perfectly at home around San Lorenzo Market, with the stalls surrounding the church of the same name. The market is open from Tuesday to Saturday.

For a final goodbye to the town, stop in Signoria Square, sit down and have a drink at one of the historical cafés of Florence, admiring Palazzo Vecchio, which has always been the seat of the local authorities. On Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) the jewellery shops will simply dazzle you.
